Right Where You Are

Everything is right, right where you are! Many times we feel that there is something better out there or we may aspire to have more or we may feel that happiness eludes us and that is because we are looking outside ourselves for that fulfillment. We look for that one thing or that one person who is going to make everything better.

We are waiting for that event to happen or that person to appear and then we can sit back and begin to enjoy life. But when we choose to wait to be happy when and if that thing happens; we miss out on being right where we are. And if you didn’t notice there is a double entendre in that last statement: “being right where we are!”

So often we miss the journey because we are so focused on what we long for or for what we don’t have yet. We are unhappy where we are, never satisfied with what is going on in our lives, with our jobs, our bodies, or our relationships and we wish things were different.

Well it’s time to embrace where you are right now along your journey in life. With all of your heartache, frustrations, health, debt, the job you don’t like and know that it’s all working out just the way it is supposed to. Be okay with where you are and understand that everything changes. The only thing permanent in life IS change.

It’s good to want more, to set goals, to aspire to fulfill your dream and continue to dream about the way you want your life to be. I’m all for having more, being more and doing more. I think it’s important to create a road map to where you want to go and how wonderful when you reach your destination of achieving your dreams.

But if you aren’t happy along the way, if you are discontent because you haven’t reached the prize or you can’t enjoy your life right now, you have forgotten to enjoy your life along the path. Life is the path. Life is the journey along the path with all of its ups and downs, lessons, hardships, celebrations, joy and tears and laughter, it is what makes us who we are.

The journey brings with it such a myriad of life’s experiences that creates who we become. Without the journey you wouldn’t have a life. People will come and go in our lives. Some will leave lasting impressions and other will teach us lessons. But they are all there for a reason, a season or a lifetime.

When you live your life only thinking about the past, focused on what happened and why you are missing out on right now. There isn’t anything you can do to change what happened. And, if you live your life wanting and wishing and hoping things were different, that is what you will experience, more wanting, wishing and hoping and again it’s the same, you miss out on right now.

Depending on whether you enjoy the journey or not, whether you embrace life with all of its peaks and valleys will determine the quality of how you live your life. If you don’t like where you are on the outside there is always a place on the inside that is perfect. It is a place of love and comfort and peace. It carries your through heartache, lifts you when you are down and rejoices in your happiness.

So if you are in a place in life and you wish things were different that’s okay. But just because they aren’t the way you want them to be right now doesn’t mean they won’t be in the future and it doesn’t  mean you still can’t embrace where you are and enjoy living. Don’t miss out on your blessings and all that is good right here, right now.

Plan for your future. Decide what you want. Set your goals and create your road map to reach your destination but don’t forget to love life. You only come this way once so make the best of it and be right where you are!

Love and hugs along your journey…Susan
